Drunks With Guns - "Blood Bath"
Off the "Drunks With Guns" LP released on Chopper Records in 1987.

One of the many greats of first wave Noise Rock, the legendary DWG are now best-known for their sloppy and belligerent sound, shit-fi yet fitting production, and this weird mix of Hardcore, Noise Rock and Industrial; kind of like No Trend in that way. Hailing from St. Louis of all places, DWG reflect the infamous shithole that is their home city; with dimwit nihilism and purposefully stupid songs. I mean, you can't say the grunts on this song aren't kind of stupid.

City Bones - "Right To Die"
Off the "Our Loss" tape self-released in 2009.
A pretty forceful and abrasive tape, (in the best way possible, mind you) City Bones first tape (to my knowledge they only had 2) is a 6 minute blur hosting 2 songs. Although I've been critical of modern PE and Noise Rock / Hardcore aesthetics, (I love it, but it can get pretty stupid at times) City Bones do add an element of menace and pathology that hasn't been recreated since Whitehouse's early period.

Pussy Galore - "SM57"
Off the "Dial M for Motherfucker" LP released on Caroline Records in 1989.
How this blog has gone so far without featuring this Noise Blues Tweak-Outs, I'll never know. From the cultural utopia of Washington DC, these eccentrics may not be as trashy as Royal Trux, but the trash-ometer is still pretty high. Also, using tin cans as a drum kit? Impressive!

The Nortones - "Boy" (33RPM)
Off the "Boy / Smile, Just Smile" Single released on Warner Bros. Records in 1959.
An obscure Doo-Wop 45 I got a few months ago, Boy sounds like any Doo-Wop song at 45, but when put onto 33 1/3 it sounds like a Bar-Band from hell. The Nortones are one of the lesser-known bands on Warner Bros catalog, mostly because they, to my knowledge, only released this single. Sad that the main joy from it comes at playing it 11 2/3 RPM's too slow, but what can ya do?

Carl Perkins - "Her Love Rubbed Off"
Off the "Honky Tonky Gal" LP released on Rounder Records in 1988.
Crowning itself as one of Rockabilly's most fucked-up songs, "Her Love Rubbed Off" is commonly compared to Suicide in atmosphere and tone, seemingly innocent guitar riffs boil down into a reverberated mess with screaming and yelling. Pretty neat for what it is, and it's a great example of that old school, lo-fi Rockabilly production.

AMM - "Later During A Flaming Riviera Sunset"
Off the "AMMMusic 1966" CD released on ReR Megacorp in 1989.
The infamous AMM has been making glorious noise since the mid 60's, and are often considered the fathers of Free-Improvisation. Although that can be debated, AMM's debut, AMMMusic in 1967 (recorded in 1966) was a breakthrough for the underground music world, which at the time was mostly caught up in Musique Concrete and Indeterminacy.
The cover is not deceptive, this album hits like a runaway semi, and sounds kind of like one, too.

Anode/Cathode - "中華人民動物園"
Off the "Punkanachrock" single released on Pinakotheca Records in 1981.
Previously featured on 8-30-2015
The B-side Anode/Cathode's only single. The reclusive Japanese Industrial / Punk Rock band took 2 years to record this single and another 3 to actually release it. That's right, this began recording in 1975, the same year Throbbing Gristle formed. Crazed and absolutely mad, this 'song' is a compendium of abstract doodles and sonic experimentations sadly forgotten by the annals of noise music.
